A Huge Win in Haiti
In May, Dr. Stephanie Crane and Dr. Christelle Mathurin had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Bertrand Sinal, the health minister of Haiti, to finalize Community Empowerment’s recognition as an official NGO. This is a major milestone that provides CE with the ability to purchase medications, such as vaccines and contraception, at low to no cost from the Programme de Médicaments Essentiels (PROMESS), Haiti’s central pharmaceutical store. PROMESS is managed in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization, which aims to provide better distribution of essential medicines and medical devices in Haiti. With skyrocketing inflation and an unreliable supply chain, the ability to purchase affordably in country is critical. We are thrilled to be able to better supply our clinic and patients.
