New Survey in Jerusalem
Between 2018 - 2019, Community Empowerment partnered with Rush Global Health to conduct a health survey of 240 households surrounding the Jerusalem clinic. Based on these findings, we know opportunities exist for increasing community attendance to Jerusalem clinic, improving food insecurity, increasing access to long-acting contraception and prenatal vitamins, and education regarding prenatal care, pregnancy prevention, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV:

43% of households had been to Jerusalem Clinic in the last year
60% reported someone in their household has gone to bed hungry or a whole day without eating
22% don’t have access to a latrine
60% cite birth control as unimportant
25% report not having taken prenatal vitamins before or during pregnancy
3.3% believe HIV is spread through touching, 50% through kissing, 5% through sharing items with HIV positive person
