Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The majority of residents in our partner communities rely on physical labor for income. Therefore, injuries can lead to increased financial and emotional distress in addition to physical distress. Introducing Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) trips provides necessary and preventative treatments that improve the overall wellbeing of the communities we serve, as well as providing an avenue for trip participants and local medical personnel to advance their expertise.

Rehabilitation services

The team evaluates patients' disabilities through a physiatrist lens, provides rehabilitation programs tailored to the patients' needs, and facilitates the rehabilitation services that are lacking in the community.

Therapeutic toolbox

The team seeks to expand its toolbox through the implementation of specific technology, such as portable musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic and treatment purposes, to optimize treatment outcomes and reduce/minimize adverse effects.

Sustainable trips

The team seeks to establish partnerships with local institutions to increase the number and frequency of the trips. Acquiring sufficient supplies is crucial for this step.

Bilateral Learning

The team works alongside local medical personnel and community members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment with bilateral knowledge sharing. The majority of health issues and recommended treatments encountered during the PM&R trip meet classic curriculum guidelines, so providers benefit from hands-on experience.
