Who We Are

ART FOR HEALTH WAS STARTED IN 2010 BY A GROUP OF ARTISTS AND MEDICAL DOCTORS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING AND IMPROVING HEALTH CARE FOR UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES. AS ARTISTS, WE SUPPORT THE WORK OF COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AND THE GLOBAL HEALTH PROGRAM AT RUSH BY TRAVELING WITH THE MEDICAL TEAMS TO THE PARTNER COMMUNITIES. 

WHAT WE SEE AND FEEL IS EXPRESSED IN DIVERSE ART FORMS THAT CELEBRATE THE VIBRANT AND RESILIENT HUMAN SPIRIT. THE ARTWORK IS TO TELL THE STORIES OF THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, WHILE HELPING US RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS. PROCEEDS GO DIRECTLY TO SUPPORT THE MEDICAL AND COMMUNITY WORK.


2015/2016 ACHIEVEMENTs

  • Started Community Empowerment - a new 501c3 to facilitate fund raising, project completion and partnership opportunities

  • Received a shipping container of equipment for the new clinic in Haiti

  • First orthopedic operating team to go to the DR provided training and services that patients would otherwise not
    be able to access

  • Completed clinic and clean water access in Haiti

  • Successfully reached the 1,000 mark of surgeries performed in the Dominican Republic

  • Provided over 3,000 medical visits


2016/2017 GOALs

  • Raise $90K at the Art for Health Benefit

  • Implement an electronic medical record system in Haiti and the DR

  • Begin community leadership training in Haiti
  • Hire medical staff in Haiti for the clinic and to oversee the Community Heath Care Workers

  • Complete the community health needs survey in Haiti

  • Help Madame LaFleur establish a permanent source of income to support the orphanage

  • Obtain Ministry of Health certification in the DR and hire permanent staff

  • Obtain funding through grants to support the community leaders and logisitics staff in Haiti

  • Assist community in the DR to become government certified clinic and hire a local physician

  • Plan for recurring shipments of medical equipment through ProjectDURE to the regional hospital in the DR
